HEDNO actively participated in the 25th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering (EEEIC), in Crete, Greece, on July the 15th, 2025. Mr. Sotirios Christopoulos, Senior Research Manager, presented the SINNOGENES project, analyzing the benefits of different kinds and scales of energy storage systems, presented all six demo sites, and focused on Ikaria’s power system, including both the hydro-pumped storage system’s integration in the energy mix and the future interconnection of Ikaria island with Samos island.
The panel session, named “Power Systems with Distributed Energy Resources and Storage Integration – Horizon Project Panel Session”, where the project was presented, also hosted invited speakers from other relevant Horizon projects, i.e., ENFLATE, THEUS, CRETE VALLEY, D-HYDROFLEX, and IANOS, sparking interesting discussions on RES penetration and storage requirements. Moreover, at the end of the session, Mr. Sotirios Christopoulos was awarded by the conference organizer with the Best Horizon Project Presentation Award.
