CERTH actively participated in the 3rd International Conference on Electrical, Computer, and Energy Technologies (ICECET 2023) in Cape Town, South Africa, on November 16-17, 2023. Dr. Dimitrios Rakopoulos presented a paper titled “Digital Twin Architecture for Smart Grids: The Case of Ikaria Island in Greece,” with a focus on showcasing the advantages of smart grid digital twins. The presentation delved into the analysis of their architecture, addressing key engineering challenges and proposing potential solutions.
A notable aspect of the presentation was the introduction of the digital twin framework for Ikaria, a demonstration project within SINNOGENES‘s portfolio. The authors expressed gratitude for the financial support from SINNOGENES and acknowledged the valuable contributions of IPTO and HEDNO, who supplied data for modeling Ikaria’s power system.
